Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Jamaican Black Castor Oil is the unrefined oil from the castor bean which has no relation to the bean family and has numerous names in other countries such as L'huille Maskerti in Haiti and is the only member of the genus ricinus family. The plant is only native to Africa but has been introduced to other tropical climates around the world.

I have been using Jamaican Black Castor Oil for about 5 years now in my deep conditioners and I love it. Recently, I started using it as a night treatment for my scalp and hair and it has really made a difference in keeping my scalp lubricated and retaining moisture and promoting growth for my hair.

Currently, my hair is plaited up since I'm wearing my wig this week. I use my spray bottle to mist my hair and scalp and than I pour a small amount of the oil at a time in a small bowl and use my fingers to apply it to my scalp and the length of my hair concentrating on the ends, than I place my satin bonnet on for bed.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil helps your hair to
:

Retain moisture when used as a sealant
Deep conditions your hair when mixed with your favourite conditioner
Lubricates and protects your scalp from the environment
Promotes hair growth
Thickens you hair (great for thinning eyebrows)
Helps to retain length when applied regularly to the ends of hair and protected by twisting, braiding or tucking the ends at night or throughout the day

Since my clear Castor oil is done and i thought it was nothing special, i'm ready to use this product. i'm wondering where did you get yours?

@Trecia

I use to get my castor oil from a beauty supplier store in Scarborough, the last time I purchased it was from Honeyfig.

If you live in the States you can get it from Sam247.com since its cheaper and they have free shipping.

Hope this helps;)

i have often wondered about this product. i hear so many people use this and have amazing results with it. of all the things that it seems to do, i have one tiny problem: i do NOT need my hair to be thicker. what i need is moisture. i NEED, NEED, NEED moisture and some length. my hair can never stay moisturized. it is always dry and i have tried quite a few regiments from different sources. it's getting quite frustrating. grrrrr. love your blog.

How am i supposed to use this castor oil? I've had the clear one and tried using it, only to find that it made a mess and felt horrible on my hair :(
I want to try the black castor oil to see if there would be significant difference - and just like always4evamoi, i neeeeeed moisture!! but i can also do with some length as well (it wouldnt hurt).
lately, maybe its because of stress or horrible sleeping habits, but ive had significant breakage and just hair coming out whenever i do anything with it. plus the knots?!?!? oh my :|
makes me sad...
i wonder if the castor oil would help..... thoughts anyone?

I have been using castor oil, aka L'huille Maskerti, in my native tongue, for a couple of months now and I have noticed a change in my hair. My hair is growing fast and hold in more moisture. I only apply the oil to my scaplp but I will try your method of applying from root to tip. Thanks for the post.

JBCO and aloe vera gel are a wonderful pre-poo combo.
